Welcome to my journey.
I will be departing for a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with Youth with a Mission (YWAM) on January 11th, 2016. The DTS is located in Lausanne, Switzerland for the first three months, and the next two in a yet to be determined country.
At this moment of changing life seasons, Luke 10:38-42 comes to mind:
38 Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; 42 but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
It's so easy to be caught in the tyranny of the immediate, feeling like Martha running from thing to thing, and focusing on what is right in front of your face rather than what is actually important. I knew before college that I wanted to take time to attend some type of Bible school, discipleship training school, or mission related course. Now I find myself at the beginning of what could be a career in interior design, and I want to take a step back for a moment and explore other talents and skills that God has given me in this next season. Primarily I want to simply spend time resting in His presence. To be challenged in my faith, grown in leadership skills, and learn more about how God has made me and what part I have to play in showing His love to the world.
This evening I spent an hour to rediscover one of my favorite artistic mediums, pen and ink, and create some quick sketches as I thought about what this next season has in store.
Thank you for coming along with me on this new adventure, I look forward to sharing with you what the future holds!
