7am walking through the woods on a jet lagged morning, snow crunching underfoot, sipping mint tea. Hoping for that cold and refreshing wake up I needed to shock my body and mind into the current time zone. Seeing the mountains and reminding myself that I am right here.
Reflecting back on that morning the first week I came to Switzerland, makes me think of all that brought me to where I am today. Before I left home, my mom handed me a book titled Chase the Lion by Mark Batterson. It's a book that is about jumping into what God has for you, boldly stepping out, not being afraid to pursue what God has put on your heart. A few thoughts stood out to me that I will be sharing in some upcoming blogs. The first one:
"What I am sure of is this: God is in the business of strategically positioning us in the right place at the right time."
Looking back to my DTS experience I can see what amazing time it was that I arrived in Lausanne when I did. There would have been no way that I could have seen what was ahead. If you would have asked me last year at this time where I would be, being at YWAM again wouldn't have been in my mind. Like those mint tea mornings I often have to even stop and realize all what brought me here. The amazing friends and family who have pushed and released me into this season. Time and time again these verses from Proverbs have come up:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
When we are walking in trust, somehow we find ourselves exactly where we are supposed to be. Right place, right time, and really not of our doing. Ultimately the position is so that we can love and be engaged with those around us. I am so excited for this season of both being able to serve the people of Lausanne and the community of YWAM Lausanne where people extend out to the nations of the world.
