Fall is my favorite season, and it's always seemed so short. It's always been between two seasons strong seasons in Minnesota the much appreciated summer and the long winter. There's this happy in between of autumn that squeezes in. You can really enjoy the warm of a bonfire with the sun setting early, and roast marshmallows with your hands freezing. It's when you can sit inside and paint for a few hours and not experience 'sun guilt' thinking you should be outside in the sun because it will only last so much longer.
This morning the leaves had an extra crunch of ice as I walked to the chalet. There was also that familiar grey sheen to the trees and car windshields from ice touching everything. Goodbye autumn!
